Ice Climbing at Rjukan

Spend a week at Rjukan, one of the world's greatest ice climbing meccas. In a valley famous for the "heroes of the Telemark" and the sabotage of the German heavy water plant at Vermork, you will find some of the most amazing ice climbs anywhere. 6 days of activity under instruction from Chris Dickinson, MIC. Climb some classic ice routes, improve your technique, perhaps improve your leading. Also an opportunity to try cross country skiing. Chris will work with maximum of four clients as follows:

3rd - 10th March 2009 (travel to Norway/Rjukan on 3rd, climb/ski 4th to 9th inclusive, travel back to UK 10th March). Trip starts and finishes at Oslo Torp airport (flights from UK by Ryanair)

Accommodation in Rjukan

Chris has booked one of the Rjukan Hytteby Cabins for this event. The cabins are warm and comfortable, there is a cafe/restaurant on site, local ammenities are close by, including the town's pool complex complete with hot spas, steam room, sauna and slides. Meals will be taken at the cafe, or self catering on shared cost basis. Local supermarkets have adequate supplies for most needs.

Equipment - A list of gear required will be provided on booking. Normal winter clothing, boots, crampons and climbing gear.

Transport by car - Participants will be be driven to and from Torp to Rjukan and daily to a variety of venues appropriate to the daily programme and conditions. Arrange your own flights with Ryanair.

Cost* (deposit £300 on booking, balance by Feb 13)

1 person (1 guide:1 client) £950

2 persons (1 guide:2 clients) guiding £750 each

3 or 4 persons (1 guide: 3 or 4 clients) £650 each

*Includes, transport from Torp and on course, instruction, technical equipment where required

*Does not include: food, drinks, ski hire, insurance or flights.
