Field study tuition for school pupils

Chris Dickinson is available at times to assist in the provision of field excursions to school pupils. This is on the basis of discussion with the interested school or teacher and may involve site visits and/or design of specified field study materials and risk assessment. Fees for this kind of work are negotiable. The normal daily rate for 2008 is £260 for tuition. However, work at new sites with additional preparation is extra. Most of the courses provided as teacher training are also possible with pupils (See course calendar). Courses can be designed and delivered for any age group from Primary to Secondary. Other field studies are possible including overseas programmes in, Northern Ireland, Norway, the Pyrenees, the USA, Canada.

Safety

Chris Dickinson is holder of the Mountaineering Instructor Certificate, the European Mountain Leader Award, Level 5 Kayak Coach, is First Aid trained and holds a PCV Licence for Minibus.

Risk assessments are available for courses on request. We can assist schools in risk assessments of their own.

Equipment and field study materials

Field study equipment for all CPD courses is provided. For school courses, depending on numbers, most equipment can be provided. It is a feature of Fieldwork in the Curriculum courses, that all field study materials are produced to a high standard and teachers and schools will be given master copies of such resources that they may copy for their own use in their own schools. All CPD course participants will also receive a CD Rom with a photographic presentation of the course. This can be used for reference or it can also be used with pupils as a class, virtual, field study exercise.

Other Services

Chris is available to lead and coach a number of outdoor activities, including mountaineering and rock climbing, orienteering, skiing, kayaking and expeditions. This is in additon to the programmes on offer under Mountain Activities and Kayak Tours.
